AGEM Index drops 6.1% in September, first decline since March 2026

The AGEM Index, published by the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, fell 6.1% in September to 1,811.01 points, its first monthly decline since March 2026. The gauge, which tracks nine publicly traded gaming equipment suppliers, lost 118.24 points during the month. On a year-over-year basis it was down 114.20 points, or 5.9%.

Eight of the nine companies recorded share price declines, resulting in nine negative contributions and no positive contributions. Aristocrat Leisure Limited's 2.3% share-price drop reduced the index by 46.60 points. Light & Wonder Inc. recorded a 16.8% decline, subtracting 39.12 points; that move followed news that the CEO of SciPlay, its social-casino business, would leave at the end of October. U.S. equity markets were mixed, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 4.3% and the S&P 500 down 0.5%, while the Nasdaq gained 1.9%.

AGEM publishes the index monthly. It covers five U.S.-based suppliers listed on the NYSE, Nasdaq or over-the-counter markets, three companies trading on the Australian stock exchange and one listed in Tokyo. The index uses month-end share prices adjusted for dividends and stock splits, weighted by approximate market capitalization; non-U.S. market capitalizations are converted to U.S. dollar equivalents at month-end.
