Brazil court grants Stake partial relief to continue betting operations until Oct. 25, 2026

Stake Brasil has secured a partial preliminary injunction from a federal court in São Paulo, allowing it to continue operating its licensed betting platform until Oct. 25, 2026. The 9th Federal Civil Court of São Paulo ruled that Stake's authorization remains valid until that date and barred authorities from blocking or redirecting stake.bet.br or penalizing operations that comply with the court's conditions. Judge Cristiane Farias Rodrigues dos Santos signed the decision, which partially granted Stake's request to suspend Brazil's Provisional Measure 1,394/2026 while its legal challenge proceeds. Stake had sought to operate until Dec. 31, 2029, when its license expires, but the court limited the relief to Oct. 25.

Stake Brasil welcomed the ruling, saying it temporarily preserved the effects of its fixed-odds betting authorization. The company stressed legal certainty for licensed operators that met requirements, paid grant fees and invested significantly. It said consumer protection relies on clear rules, responsible gambling mechanisms and public oversight. Stake said it believed it was the first licensed operator to receive such a decision. Law firm Bichara e Motta, which filed the lawsuit, described the ruling as the first favorable decision for a fixed-odds betting operator in Brazil in the dispute over the measure's effects. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva introduced the provisional measure in late September, prompting legal challenges; two major gambling trade bodies have asked the Supreme Federal Court to overturn it.
